Job Title: Seamer Mechanic Technician

Pay Rate: $17.00 - +

Location: Lyons, GA.

Shift Schedule: 1st Shift 5:45AM - Until

Monday through Friday (Some Saturdays)

Temp to Full Time


A. KEY RESULTS: Maintain Seamer in sound operational condition to achieve production goals. Machines are to be set up and adjusted ready for production. Clear jams as needed. Repair and preventative maintenance are done in the least time possible. Comply with Company policies and safety procedures. B. SPECIFIC TASKS: (Describe the tasks in as detailed steps as possible) 1. Seamers are calibrated, set up and ready for operation before each production shift. 2. Complete all Pre-Startup inspections and paperwork as scheduled. 3. After setting up and testing, packers and surrounding areas are to be inspected to ensure no tools, hardware, parts, rags, lubricants, or any other things that may pose a risk for the product are present. 4. Conduct hourly random visual inspections on cans off each operating Seamer throughout the shift. 5. Verify the results of the tear down test with the Tear Down technician in case a recheck or seamer adjustment is necessary. 6. Work closely with the Seamer Operator to recognize skidders/deadheads, cut overs, and other similar double seam defects and irregularities. 7. Clear Seamer can jam and visually inspect 12 cans. Complete additional visual seam inspections shall be made immediately after a can jam or after start up of a machine following a prolonged shut down. 8. Verify with Seamer Operators that visual seam inspections are done immediately after a can jam. 9. Collect on time the cans for the Seamer tear down every three hours for water packs and or every two hours for oil packs and deliver to the Tear Down laboratory. 2 10. When maintenance needs to be performed during production, request the production staff to remove the fish from the immediate area where the job is to be performed. 11. Minimize the response time when support is needed by being present in packing room at all times. 12. Respond to breakdowns promptly, complete work safely and efficiently. 13. If any welding job was completed, inspect the surface for metal burrs, sharp edges or any protuberance that could be a risk for people safety, containers integrity or food safety. 14. At the end of any maintenance job, notify the team leader or designated person so the machine can be clean and sanitized if necessary. 15. Create a work entry in Maintenance Connection for all jobs completed, regardless of the time length or resources needed. 16. Ensure every Maintenance Connection record created contains the details of the problem, the actual time used to fix the problem, what was done, the identification of the failure reason and the record of used parts if any. 17. Ensure Preventative Maintenance tasks are completed on time as required and paperwork and or Maintenance Connection records are filed correctly. 18. Maintain all jobs done on the seamers, daily remarks, and corrective actions in the Seamer Log. 19. Ensure the Seamer Shop stays clean and organized at all times. 20. Clean the drilling and cutting machines after use. 21. Properly store all assigned tools, lubricants, rags, parts and any other materials and place back in the assigned locations when usage is complete. 22. Ensure workshop and workstation areas (including service carts and tables) clean and assist in other areas when needed. 23. Ensure that all Food Grade and Non-Food Grade lubricants are stored properly and not stored on the same shelf. 24. Take ownership and care of company tools and equipment, keep clean and secure. 25. Support Packing Room production team to hit the productivity and quality goals per shift. 26. Identify any hazardous situations and report them to your supervisor. 27. Perform any other task as assigned or directed by your supervisor or manager. 28. Comply with company policies and procedures, food safety, quality, GMP s and safety requirements.
