SPECIFIC TASKS:
Oversee and coordinate the operations of QC s Analytical Lab. Manage lab performance, including ensuring analyses are accurate and performed in a timely manner. Train, monitor, and evaluate the job performance of personnel assigned to perform tuna loin quality evaluation, incoming packaging materials evaluation, incoming ingredient evaluation, and analytical lab personnel assigned to analyze tuna loin material, ingredients, and canned product, including sample collectors and other lab support personnel (e.g., temporary labor, student practitioners, etc.). Develop work plans and supervise the quality evaluation and lab analysis processes. Evaluate, analyze, and grade tuna loin material, packaging material, ingredients and canned product for safety, quality, and authenticity, and place on hold nonconforming materials or products. Revise the data being generated by the incoming material inspectors and the analytical lab, generate summaries of the data, and prepare reports to present to management. Serve as alternate supervisor, and provide leadership, support and assistance within the QC and Food Safety departments supervisory team.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate Degree diploma (chemistry or microbiology background preferred)
- 2-5 years Analytical Laboratory experience, lab management experience a plus
- 1 year Food Manufacturing experience
- Able to train others in operational procedures
- Able to read, write and speak English
- Good math skills- must be able to compute percentages and averages
- Computer skills- MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT) or equivalent a must
- Able to work with moving equipment
- Able to work any shift including overtime and/or weekends
