Field Estimator


Responsibilities:

Responsible for working in the field to provide complete measurement, take-off, analysis, and estimates of all aspects of deliverables involved in the project scope. Connects subcontractors, design team, estimators, and clients in understanding the scope of work to be done for proper identification of project cost.                   

  • Collaborate with operations staff and other estimators to ensure that general conditions and required aspects of the project are appropriately captured in the estimate.
  • Conduct site walks to determine the scope and accuracy of drawings.
  • Clarify project scope and provide to subcontractors so they understand the work required and can provide reasonable project pricing.
  • Determine all required but non-indicated scope through an on-site review of conditions against plan specifications.
  • Assess subcontractor proposals to ascertain if the scope is covered to minimize the risk of scope gaps.
  • Use company-provided estimating tool software in the development of complete project cost estimates.
  • Schedule and perform Bid Reviews to ensure completeness and accuracy/approval of estimates with various executive leadership levels based on project revenue thresholds.
  • Analyze final project postmortem performance data for opportunities to continuously improve the estimating process.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all deadlines, ethics, and compliance requirements at all times.
  • Ensure usage of Salesforce to track estimating workflow.
  • When appropriate, define more cost-efficient alternatives to the proposed scope of the project.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Operations in the timing of presentations and in building client relationships.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing in evaluating and analyzing material proposals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • May require overnight travel, day travel is expected to be up to 50% of the time.


Qualifications:


  • Must possess practical estimating, engineering experience, and estimating techniques by interpreting computerized cost data and systems.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, Refrigeration, & Energy Management systems and installation is a must.
  • Demonstrate superior judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrate strong relationship and communication skills as this position will interact with project owners, contractors, and project managers.
  • Able to manage multiple and competing priorities and projects under tight time frames.
  • Must have a driver s license and good driving record.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 4 - 6 years of experience as a Construction Estimator, Construction Coordinator, or Project Manager or in a related area. General Contractor experience or supermarket refrigeration construction is a plus.
  • Experience using FastEST and PlanSwift, or any other estimation software is required.
  • Experience using Salesforce.com, or other CRM software, preferred.
