GENERAL DESCRIPTION SUPERVISION: Under the direction of the Operations Manager, directs and maintains an effective production department capable of planning, implementing, and controlling production, fabrication and assembly, in accordance with approved policies, schedules and procedures. Directs production activities to fulfill schedules, sales, and customer requirements at effective cost control consistent with good production, ISO quality standards, lean manufacturing and OSHA safety requirements. Represents the department in developing and maintaining good management-associate relations, which includes representing the department in resolving concerns
Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Aligns the performance of associates to established productivity, quality and safety standards.
Recommend changes in the amount of manpower necessary to meet objectives.
Recommends personnel changes - employment, termination, training, etc.
Ensures personnel understand their jobs, are properly trained and standards of performance are met. Assists in the development of the following items according to Company functional and organizational needs.
Ensures proper utilization of assigned manpower.
Collaborates with Quality Assurance to ensure that products leaving the facility meet the customer's specifications. Assures that production facilities are properly protected and maintained. Maintains proper storage of raw materials and products.
Randomly inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines for new products.
Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to associates and assigns duties, as needed. In conjunction with planner, establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Implements changes in use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, work center, and associates.
Analyzes, resolves and assists associates in solving problems.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve goals.
Coordinates production, warehousing, and inventory control in accordance with policies and procedures established by the company.
Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and associates. Interprets and enforces all company policies and procedures.
Ensures all equipment is repaired as necessary Trains shop associates in data collection procedures for ERP system.
Ensures all associates are trained in accordance with job requirement safety policies and OSHA standards.
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.
Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; notifies supervisor or purchasing of parts needed.
Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Maintains facility that may include basic maintenance, painting, repairing restrooms, etc.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Physical Demands: The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an
employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, kneel, and climb. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and on occasion lift and/or move 50 pounds, with or without the use of material handling equipment. The employee is expected to climb up to eight feet. The employee must have average manual dexterity. The employee must have average vision, with or without correction. The employee must have the ability to communicate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
and fumes and airborne particles. The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions.
