Summary: Responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant
equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while
supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional duties may be
assigned.
Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment
and initiates reordering when necessary.
Maintains and repairs plant equipment and building structures.
Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant
operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
Supervises plant maintenance personnel.
Ensures that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated
so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective
manner.
Able to execute training on all various types of plant equipment and procedures (i.E.,
LOTO, Preventive Maintenance, Trouble Shooting activities, Rebuilds, etc ).
Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize
unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify
opportunities for improvement.
Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
* Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of
trouble.
* Working knowledge of electrical and/or PLC s.
* Knowledge and use of dial indicators and micrometers.
*Lubricates and cleans parts.
*Start devices to test their performance.
*Able to meg motors, use meters to test fuses, ohm motors. Repairs electrical
equipment.
*Emergency call back and rotating call duty.
(Employee will be required to perform other job related marginal duties as required.)
*Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated
reports.
*Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve
system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
*Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other
data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or
applications.
*Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance
with engineering design and performance specifications.
*Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products,
equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of
engineering principles.
*Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make
recommendations to maintenance crew
*Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and
equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
*Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and
performance of equipment, components and systems.
*Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
*Establish and coordinate the maintenance and safety procedures, service schedule, and
supply of materials required to maintain machines and equipment in the prescribed
condition.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have expertise and proficiency
with basic office computer software, e.G., word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
Must have the ability to work effectively with Excel, Word and/or Computerized
Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and instruct others on its operation.
Physical Requirements:
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift
and/or move up to 80 pounds.
The employee must be able to climb ladders and work in high, precarious places up to
elevations of 100 feet.
Working Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near
moving mechanical parts.
The employee may be exposed to wet or humid conditions.
The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.
The employee may be exposed to extremely dusty environments.
The employee may be exposed to chemicals used in the process.
Education and Experience: The minimum requirements for education and experience
are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent
combination of education and experience.
* Minimum 5 years experience in the maintenance and/or operation of a process
manufacturing facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
