Automotive Business Development Manager & Technical Service Engineer
Job Description
Position Purpose
Drive 20% YOY volume growth within the US automotive sector.
Foster current auto buying accounts to maintain engineering and purchasing relationships, with the goal of increased volume at those existing accounts.
Develop and implement an attack plan for expansion of current automotive customer base.
Support R&D/Applications Engineering to identify applications and specifications that fit the Technyl product line and attack those opportunities with an aggressive value selling approach.
Strengthen existing OEM engineering and purchasing relationships while developing new relationships at the OEM and Tier 1 levels.
Identify shows, fairs, and other marketing opportunities to help increase the Technyl brand knowledge throughout the automotive space.
Major/key accountabilities
Manage all sales and field technical support for current EP customers based in assigned region, as well as other accounts as assigned by management.
Drive sales growth by identifying, qualifying, and establishing value-selling relationships with new customers within the automotive market space.
Provide field technical service and support to all accounts within said territory.
Achieve highest level of margin possible by selling values other than price (delivery, service, lead-time, technical capability, global position.)
Maintain accurate log of visit reports, contacts, quotations, and sales pipeline opportunities via SF.com.
Assist finance with collection as necessary
Assist quality and R&D with data gathering, root-cause analysis, and complaint resolution, as necessary.
Measures
Safety in all that you do (safe driving, obeying all local travel laws and ordinances), adhering to all safety regulations.
Actual sales turnover growth in assigned region as well as with other accounts as assigned by management
Size of new business opportunity pipeline in assigned area (volume, # of projects, sales $, and margin $.)
Overall margin attained at each account as well as total margin achieved in sales territory
Authority/decision making
Identify and quote best achievable margin for each opportunity
Quality, chase, or no-quote opportunities based upon your expert evaluation of all conditions associated with each opportunity
Identify a marketing budget to enhance the Detroit Auto markets familiarity, the Technyl brand, our Technyl 4Earth recycled capabilities, and our technical strengths in applications and product development.
Experience
Minimum 10-years of experience in the automotive sector, preferably selling engineering thermoplastics at the OEM and Tier 1 level
Extensive experience with automotive specifications, testing standards, material selection methodology is required
Skills
Outstanding oral and written communications skills
Public speaking skills and comfort in presenting to large groups
Technical capabilities (molding, compounding, formulation, or design engineering experience) is a tremendous plus This is a technical sales position
Solid working knowledge if MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT)
Familiarity with SF.com or other Pipeline management systems
